Where to eat, where to eat. . .The Riviera Maya enjoys a rich mix of Mexican, European, North and South American Cultures. Throw a little Caribbean groove in there, and you have a thriving cultural scene with great restaurants. We are blessed with fantastic food from all over the world that can be found at very reasonable prices.
Still in the Yucatan, local specialties should not be missed. The Yucatan is home to one of kind cuisine that is quickly becoming known in more cosmopolitan areas for it’s rich and unique flavors.

Here is our little guide to local eating establishments. When available we have included website addresses and contact information.

AKUMAL RESTAURANTS

Lol-Ha
Lol-Ha is Akumal’s most well known restaurant and a community gathering place for afternoon Happy Hour. Lol-Ha is located on the sandy beaches of Akumal Bay. You can choose to dine in a beautiful palapa covered dining room offering fresh seafood, traditional Mexican specialties, and USDA Steaks or enjoy a freshly baked pizza at the Pizzeria. Lunch is served right on the beach at the Lol-Ha snack bar. Lunch items include American as well local classics. Also on Akumal Bay, very close to Lol-Ha are the Kid's Club, The Akumal Dive Center and The Original Akumal Dive Shop. Lol
The Lol-Ha Pizzeria offers freshly baked pizzas. Lol-Ha is open everyday. Happy Hour 5:30 - 6:30 PM.
Lol-Ha also a variety of nighttime entertainment including a local Jazz and Blues band and the Lol-Ha Dance Group performing folkloric and regional dances every Thursday night. Cueva del Pescador
Cueva del Pescador offers fresh seafood and Mexican Specialties. All fish is caught fresh by Carlos and crew each day. A great place to enjoy a cold beer and fresh grilled fish after a day of diving.
Cueva del Pescador open for Lunch and Dinner, closed Sundays in low season. Located next to Turtle Bay Café. Across the street and just behind the Original Akumal Dive Shop. You will enjoy digging your toes in the sandy floor.

Turtle Bay Café
Turtle Bay Cafe offers fresh baked goods, breakfast, lunch, great smoothies and exceptional dinners. The best place for breakfast and coffee in town. This is cute and charming little place to get fresh salads, sandwiches, and good American style breakfasts. The dinner specials are always great. Open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights. Don't Miss It! Credit cards accepted. Open 7:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday and Mondays until Noon. Friday and Saturday 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Loncheria Akumalito
Luncheria Akumalito, located next to the Super Chomak grocery store in the center of Akumal. The Akumalito offers breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. A local favorite for regional specialties like Huevos Mexicanos and Pollo a la Mexicano, the Akumalito offers simple, delicious meals at a very reasonable price. Also great are the "Aguas Frescas", fresh fruit juices that are cold and refreshing. Open 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM most days. No Credit Cards Accepted

Imelda’s Eco-Cocina
A great little place next to the CEA and the Original Akumal Dive Shop. The eco-cocina offers authentic dishes with a little Belizian touch. Sign-up here for the authentic Mayan meal served Monday and Fridays.Open 7:30 to 3:00. Dinners served Mondays and Fridays at 6:30 PM. Closed Sundays. No Credit Cards Accepted.

La Buena Vida
La Buena Vida on the beach of Half Moon Bay. This is a great place to spend the day. La Buena Vida is best known for it’s swinging bar seats and cool atmosphere. A very fun place to hang out, La Buena Vida offers the Akumal version of “night life” in a casual, tropical atmosphere. La Buena Vida serves Lunch and Dinner Daily, upstairs in the palapa roofed dining room, on the beach or at the bar. Open 11:00 AM Daily. Accepts Credit Cards.

La Lunita
La Lunita, an intimate beach front restaurant located on Half Moon Bay, offers Mexican and regional specialties. La Lunita is perfect for enjoying long relaxing meals over a bottle of wine. Dig your toes in the sand and enjoy the company. La Lunita is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the winter. Dinner only summer and fall. Accepts Credit Cards.

Que Onda, Ristorante Italiano
Personal attended by the owners, Que Onda offers Italian Specialties including home made pasta and fresh seafood. This comfortable and relaxed setting is also perfect for enjoying a cappuccino or glass of fine wine. Open 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Closed Tuesdays.Que Onda also features a small lively hotel in a tropical garden setting. Just a few steps from Yal-Ku Lagoon, Que Onda offers exceptional meals and accommodations in a friendly setting. Accepts Credit Cards.

El Perico (The true roadside taco stand)
El Perico offers tacos, tortas and other “fast foods”. A good place for a quick taco and cold coke. El Perico is open most mornings and evenings. Usually closes in the afternoon after lunch. No credit cards accepted. Located at the highway entrance to Akumal proper.

Dona Moni
Dona Moni has been feeding the Akumal locals for almost 20 years now. Local favorites and a cold “refresco” at a good rate. Not for the faint of heart, but an authentic meal. Open for breakfast and lunch. Dona Moni’s is located across Highway 307 in Akumal Pueblo. Up the road and to your left. Look for the crowd.

Lucy’s Kitchen
Hand made gourmet flavor ice cream. Lucy’s Kitchen is located next to the “cancha” (basket ball courts). Open 12:00 – 5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday
